Conclusions

Like all other components of the paper machine, felts can be designed and produced using engineering methods instead of being produced empirically as it has always been. This is the only way to optimise product performance and therefore efficiency of the press. Infact a conventional felt could reveal to be a good felt when well designed , but it's unlikely to be the best possible as a Binet felt!
